Thoughts are Things – Prentice Mulford

  • A child who is nurtured by their parent too long will not develop skills to be self sustaining, and will be trained eventually to take only that which is dropped in their open mouths – the child will lack the skills and desire to go into the world and learn to create wealth and strength on their own. Parents should not care for their children too long out of love, but rather push them out of the nest.
  • People who think cheaply will draw themselves to poverty. Trying to settle with cheap lodgings, cheap food, cheap clothes, out of economics, will give you a cheap mindset, and set up a barrier for success. Track 7, 2:10
  • Cheapness comes from the thought currents of fear and failure. These thought current don’t flow into the thought currents of success and wealth. (Maybe cheapness is similar to telling your mind “It can’t be done.” Just as telling yourself something is impossible closes the mind, cheapness can close the mind. Instead of inspiring you to aspire to the greatest heights of achievement – which you are capable of – cheapness tells you to settle for the little that you are “allotted” in life. While I think frivolous purchasing is a bleeding failure, we should still think wealthy thoughts. If you can’t afford things you desire, then at least make a decision to be able to afford it in the nearest future. Ask the question “How will I be able to afford this thing?”)
  • If you live too long in any one idea, in any one form, and you will turn into the extremes of that idea, that situation. Track 7, 3:20
  • We want to call daily from thought currents from the Infinite Mind.
  • Talking with others about negative things, is more than double as powerful as thinking a negative thought alone. The same with positive thoughts. Multiple minds create great power.
  • If we do activities with our thoughts on other things, we are training ourselves to be irked by the small activities. We are training ourselves to be annoyed. This distraction and annoyance is a result of fear. Fear of loss of pleasure from doing the thing we want. If we are walking to go somewhere, we want to place all attention on getting pleasure from the walk, and this will give us strength to complete the task we have waiting at our destination.
  • We must not be annoyed by unexpected events, for all of life is unexpected. We must train ourselves to accept all events that come to us, and give them our full attention, so that we can complete them fully, and be present during the process.
